Chubb appoints SVP for its North America Commercial Insurance division - NJBIZ

Mark S. James has been appointed senior vice president, commercial marine insurance for Chubbs North America Commercial Insurance division, it announced Friday.

The Whitehouse Station-based casualty insurance company said in a prepared statement that James will be responsible for leading the growth and development of marine insurance products and loss prevention services for inland and ocean marine mid-sized companies.

"By appointing Mark to this position, we are sending a clear message that Chubb intends to maintain and build its leadership position in the marine insurance marketplace," Steven R. Pozzi, division president, North America Commercial Insurance, said in a prepared statement. "Mark began his career in Chubb's marine business and possesses in-depth industry knowledge, experience and leadership skills that will help us grow our marine business and serve our customers well."

James will report to Paul L. Lewis, chief underwriting officer, North America Commercial Insurance.

"Mark is a seasoned executive who brings valuable business and marine underwriting experience to this important role. His appointment exemplifies Chubb's commitment to offer the marketplace industry-focused underwriting expertise, as well as innovative middle-market property and casualty coverages and services," Lewis said in a prepared statement.

James has more than 25 years of insurance industry experience. He most recently served as senior vice president, Ceded Reinsurance at Chubb. Hes also held various underwriting and financial management positions. He joined Chubb in 1987 as a marine trainee and progressed through the ranks.
